There is no reliable record of their having been here before 1975, and subsequent scholarship is sketchy, at best. They are without gender, and reproduce, it would seem, by a process that is somewhat ectoplasmic, remotely parthenogenetic. The children are adorable. There is more than a little of the "spark of joy" in their aspect, and in their demeanor as well. But age, as with their human neighbors, presses heavily on the Clupkitz nature, and that which was delightful and sparky, oft turns benighted & snarky.
